Hi Mike - the O2 Hotshot (aka the Huawei E586 MiFi) is a modem+short range router and won't be supported on the Dovado routers. Sorry to disappoint. If you got hold of an unlocked (or O2 Ireland) modem you could use the Hotshot's SIM as needed.

Hi
would the dovado router work with O2 hotshot. I've tried 2 other routers - D-Link DWR-131 and a Zoom 4506 with no success so far. Kind regards

Okay - if the reset succeeded, the router should now be broadcasting its wireless network as DOVADO and it will be unsecured so you can connect from any wireless client browser. Proceed with configuration using the browser address http://192.168.0.1 - the login will be admin & password.

I don't have an admin & password or an wep/wpa key - so how do i get in contact with the router from my computer and playstation? I've tried holding down the reset button for 8 secs, but I still can't get access to the router without an wep/wpa key??

Hi RedMan - on the 3GN, the procedure to reset is exactly the same as for the UMR, except that reset button is raised above the surface on the back panel and does not need any special implement to press and hold it. Default username and password are the same: admin & password

Hi Gerry,
The solution in the end was to get an actual mobile broadband sim card. I don't want to complain here about the retail supplier who sold me what they said was a MBB SIM card (three in fact and I had at least one tablet with me the first time) but emobile correctly pointed out on looking at their computer records that the SIM I was using was incorrect for a Galaxy Tablet or any tablet for that matter as it was a voice and text SIM. On buying an "e-mobile prepay MBB SIM Pack" from the emobile shop and using the apn 'broadband.eircommbb.ie' with no username nor password I see that the ip address on 3g is 109.125.x.y. All is well.

Have you tried <strong>broadband.mymeteor.ie</strong>? It's possible that the data plan associated with the SIM does not provide any public IP connectivity.

Hi Gerry, Thanks for the reply. It's a tablet with Android 3.1 I'm using with an emobile SIM. From looking at Settings->Wireless and networks->Mobile Networks->Access point Names I see the existing APN has the following details:

APN - wap.mymeteor.ie
Proxy - 010.085.085.085
Port - 8799
User name - my
Password - *** [presumably this is wap]
Mobile country code - 272
Mobile networks code - 03
Authentication type - PAP
APN type - internet
APN protocol - IPv4
The other remaining values are not set.

I created another APN and set it to broadband.eircommbb.ie and used the other values above but then I was unable to get a 3g connection nor an IP address as seen with 'ip route' using the Terminal Emulator apk downloaded from the marketplace. With the APN of wap.mymeteor.ie the android gets an IP address like 10.195.71.178. It's a non 10.x.x.x address I'm looking for and methinks the proxy needs to be something different.

HI Michael - what APN are you using? Does the eircom one work? broadband.eircombb.ie

If you browse the settings on the software provided with the dongle on a PC, can you determine the APN?
