I’d suggest you seek out a user forum for help. http://forum.gsmhosting.com is primarily about mobile phones, but if you register and search around the forums you should find an appropriate forum for asking about ZTE modem unlocking/firmware updates.

hi gerry
Im having a ZTE MF627. I bought in saudi can use only STC sims. so I try to unlock by updating firmware. everything went fine till 96% then firmware updation stuck. So I restart the system. so now the dongle is not recognized by my windows xp. what can i do now??

and it appears to be okay, so it is possibly the unZIPper at your end.

Hi all,
Just downloaded the new firmware from Dovado but the Zip file is corrupt. Tried three or four times but all the same. Any where else I can get it?

hi gerry… thanks for the reply. i just recently upgrade the newest version of the firmware which is 4.0.2… after successfully loaded into my dovado… my settings internet settings did’nt change so i easily get back online…

i’ll check on the market for the antennas that might help my usb modem better signal reception… im getting only 25% 3g signal inside my room… a little bit slow when you stream youtube…

i’ll post some improvements if i get antenna or 3g booster…

Hi Adelbert, yes Dovado strongly recommend you upgrade to firmware v4.0.2 to avoid the “locking up” problem associated with v4.0 and v4.0.1.

If you carefully follow the firmware upgrade instructions, you should have no problems with the upgrade.

the ZTE MF627 doesn’t have an external antenna connector, but there is a clip-on antenna that might improve your signal – I don’t have first hand experience of the clip-on antenna.

my newly purchased dovado umr here in saudi arabia is having a version 4.0 and it’s working properly over my ZTE MF627+ with al jawal (STC) sawa broadband simcard. just recently, i’ve noticed some drop outs of my connection and i have considered using the connection tracker and still under observation.

do you think, it is advisable for me to upgrade into this new version? i’m afraid maybe it might not work later on for some cases…

also, what do you recommend to have a better signal on my modem since im getting 2G signal inside my room. do i need to install any antennas? what would be your recommendation.
