Dovado 3G router now supports Sierra 888 modem

Dovado released firmware v3.0.3 for the UMR today.

Sierra Compass 888After at least 4 weeks of rigorous testing Dovado have released new firmware for their USB Mobile Broadband Router (UMR). A number of Irish Dovado users contributed to beta-testing the firmware because, among other things, it addresses a couple of Ireland-specific issues, namely:

  • support for the Sierra Compass 888 USB modem as used by many O2 customers in Ireland
  • a bugfix for a Network Time Protocol (NTP) issue affecting O2 and Vodafone users in Ireland. (NTP is used to monitor monthly traffic statistics in the Dovado UMR.)

The new firmware update adds support for a dozen other modems and resolves a number of bugs. For more information and to download the firmware, visit the Dovado website at http://www.dovado.com/UMR_Firmware.html.
